Hi everyone! I’m Carey, your new Children’s Ministry Director, and I’m so excited to meet you all!

This Sunday, February 23rd, from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm in the Library, I’m hosting a special Meet and Greet. This is a chance for me to get to know our amazing volunteers and for anyone interested in serving to learn more about our ministry.

Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or just thinking about getting involved, come join me! We’ll be talking about my vision for the future of Children’s Ministry, sharing fun ideas, and answering any questions you might have.

This is also a fantastic opportunity to connect with other volunteers, share stories, and build a strong team.

I can’t wait to see you there! Let’s make this a year filled with joy, learning, and growth for our youngest church members!

Plainfield United Methodist Church is thrilled to share exciting updates on the Reach Beyond project! This initiative is transforming the Worship Annex into a vibrant space for hospitality, outreach, and worship. Thanks to our incredible community, we are so close to making this vision a reality!

Recent Transformations Include:

• Window replacements
• Brand-new carpet replacing 25-year-old flooring
• Upgraded electrical system for a modern, efficient space
• Comfortable seating with side tables and chairs
• Beautiful decorative touches, including a prayer wall and art installations

The total project cost is estimated at $65,000, and thanks to the generosity of our community, we’ve already raised an amazing $55,341.16 as of February 9, 2025! We are now less than $10,000 away from reaching our goal!

Plainfield United Methodist Church is dedicated to serving families in need by supporting Family Promise of Hendricks County, a vital organization that empowers families experiencing homelessness. Family Promise provides shelter, resources, and support to help families regain stability and achieve long-term independence.

In 2025, PUMC will provide meals for Family Promise during the following weeks:

• March 2-8
• May 4-10
• August 17-23
• November 2-8

We are calling on servant-hearted individuals to help prepare and serve meals during these weeks. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a direct impact in our community, offering nourishment and support to families working toward a brighter future.

Join us for Ash Wednesday worship on March 5, 2025, at 7:00 PM as we begin Lent, a season of reflection and renewal leading to Easter.

Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent, a 40-day period of prayer and repentance. The tradition of receiving ashes dates back to the early church, symbolizing our mortality and need for God’s grace. The ashes, made from last year’s Palm Sunday palms, remind us to turn our hearts toward God.

For those participating from home, ashes are available for pick-up in the church office. The service will be live-streamed on our website, Facebook, and YouTube, allowing all to join in this sacred time.

Come, in person or online, as we seek God’s presence and prepare our hearts for the journey ahead.

We’re excited to welcome Carey Michels as PUMC’s Director of Children’s Ministries! A Plainfield resident since 2018, Carey has attended PUMC with her family and is passionate about supporting children’s faith development.

She works full-time as the Pregnancy Promise Program Project Specialist for the Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning, helping pregnant individuals with substance use disorders find resources to support their families.

Growing up, Carey’s mother played a big role in children’s ministry, inspiring her own love for working with kids. She looks forward to connecting with PUMC families and expanding our children’s programs within the church and community.
