Vacation Bible School: Start the Party

Are you ready to join the Vacation Bible School (VBS) celebration this summer? From June 24 to 28, we’re inviting children from 4 years old to 5th grade to dive into a week filled with joy, learning, and, most importantly, fun at our ‘Start the Party’ themed VBS program. Inspired by Acts 2:28, which reminds us that being with Jesus fills us with joy, this year’s VBS is all about celebrating Jesus in the most exciting and enjoyable way possible.

To make this event truly unforgettable, we’re calling for volunteers like you to join us in various roles. Your contribution is crucial in ensuring a memorable experience for all participants. Here are some areas where we need your unique skills and passion:

  • Music: Join our music team to create a lively and engaging atmosphere through music that celebrates Jesus.
  • Opener: Help kick off each day with an energetic and inspiring opener that sets the tone for the day’s activities and lessons.
  • Crafts: Get creative with our craft activities that reinforce the day’s teachings and provide children with a hands-on way to explore their faith.
  • Story Time: Share the stories of the Bible with children during our story time sessions.
Outside Games: Lead outdoor games that promote teamwork, fun, and physical activity.

As a token of our appreciation, volunteers will receive a special VBS t-shirt to wear during the event. But more than that, this is an opportunity for you to make a real, meaningful impact in the lives of children. It’s a chance to be part of a vibrant and welcoming community dedicated to celebrating Jesus, and to create lasting memories that will fill us all with joy and love.

We’re excited to have you join us for this exciting event! If you’re interested in volunteering or have any questions about how you can get involved, please reach out to Charity Aton. She’ll be more than happy to provide more information and help you find the perfect role. We value your contribution and can’t wait to see you at VBS!

Let’s come together as a community to celebrate, learn, and spread the joy of Jesus at Vacation Bible School – Start the Party. Join us in making a difference in the lives of children and creating lasting memories that will fill us all with joy and love.

General Conference Meets and Acts

The General Conference of The United Methodist Church met April 23-May 3 in Charlotte, NC. Elected General Conference delegates half laity and half clergy from Indiana and all over the world are the only group which speaks for and makes policy and rules for The United Methodist Church. This group acted by a large majority to provide full status, participation, and inclusion of LGBTQ+ persons in all aspects of church life and eliminated all rules that had excluded them. At PUMC and in the larger UMC, all are accepted and loved. Glory to God! If you would like more information, visit www.resourceumc.org/en/content/general-conference-legislative-recap or find a summary of General Conference actions provided by our Superintendent, Dr. Aleze Fulbright, at pumc.org/gc2024. Feel free to contact one of the pastors if you have further questions.

Basic Ministry Budget: Children and Youth

This week, we highlight the Basic Ministry Budget.

The operating budget for Plainfield United Methodist Church is more than line items on a spreadsheet. It’s a story of love in action. PUMC uses gifts to the budget to show God’s BIG Love and help others grow in faith.

Out of every dollar you generously give to support the Basic Ministry Budget, 10 cents of it supports Children and Youth.

Children and Youth: $105,158

At PUMC, we want every child to know they are loved by Jesus. It’s so important that “serving the children of Plainfield” is our one big thing — where we want to serve the community with such impact that the love of God in Jesus Christ is revealed and noticed. We aim to show God’s love through programs for children of all ages, from birth to kindergarten through high school. Examples include preschool programming, before-and-after-school child care, an interactive Sunday School curriculum, seasonal events like Easter Eggstravaganza and Trunk or Treat, and a vibrant youth ministry engaged in mission throughout the United States and beyond.

Thank you for supporting Children and Youth here at PUMC!

Total 2024 Basic Ministry Budget: $1,051,584

For more information about the PUMC Basic Ministry Budget and the Narrative Budget, see the January or February Circuit Rider or check out pumc.link/2024NB.
