A team from PUMC traveled to Henderson Settlement in Kentucky for a week of mission work. They replaced rotted steps and modified existing stairs to fit a deck. Future mission trips are scheduled for May and September 2024. Volunteers can work in various areas, including construction, office help, library organization, greenhouse work, sewing, thrift shop assistance, landscaping, and maintenance. Joining a team is an open invitation for anyone interested. Room, board, and three daily meals will be provided. Contact Don Sanders at dsandjs@att.net for more information.

Volunteers in children’s ministry are the backbone of spiritual growth and well-being for children in church communities. Their selfless dedication and tireless efforts have far-reaching positive impacts on the children’s emotional, social, and spiritual growth.
Through building meaningful relationships, they establish trust, care, and mentorship that create a supportive and nurturing environment for children. Volunteers teach children about God, the Bible, and Christian values while modeling Christ’s love through their words and actions. They demonstrate kindness, compassion, patience, and forgiveness, teaching children how to live out their faith in practical ways.
Volunteers ensure that the children’s ministry is a safe and secure space, both physically and emotionally, and provide a welcoming atmosphere where children feel valued and protected. They organize engaging activities, lessons, and games that make learning about God enjoyable for children.
Volunteers impact not only the lives of children but also support families within the church community. They come alongside parents, offering encouragement, resources, and guidance in raising children with a strong foundation in faith. By investing their time and energy in children’s ministry, volunteers have the opportunity to plant seeds of faith in young hearts, shaping children’s understanding of God, the gospel, and their personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Children are the church’s future, and volunteers in children’s ministry have a direct impact on shaping the future of the church community. By investing in children’s spiritual development, volunteers help raise a generation grounded in faith, equipped to serve, and committed to living out God’s purposes.
Volunteers in children’s ministry are a valuable and essential asset to the church community. Their dedication and service make a lasting impact on the lives of children and the overall health of the church.

PUMC will provide evening meals for Family Promise during the week of December 3-9. The families will be staying at Almost Home while they work towards the next chapter of their lives. Typically, there will be around 4 to 6 families, and they will have meals together. The meals are requested to be dropped off by 6 p.m. Also, it would be great to visit with the families! You can either bring a meal and stay to eat, or just come and eat some fantastic food someone else has brought or play with the kids.
We will receive the family information the week before we host to know how many meals are required.
If you have any questions, would like to provide a meal, or spend some time with the families, please get in touch with Mary Raver (mraver@pumc.org).

The 2024 giving envelopes will be available for pick up in the main lobby from Sunday, December 3, through Sunday, December 17, 2023. If you do not have envelopes and would like them, don’t hesitate to contact Rebecca Blackwelder, PUMC Financial Administrator, at 317-839-2319 x.227 or rblackwelder@pumc.org.

Please mark your calendars for the third annual Carol-A-Thon on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 6:30 PM. We invite you to participate in selecting the Christmas carols sung that evening. To share your suggestions, please visit the Carol-A-Thon display in the Lobby and Worship Annex on November 12, 19, and 26. It is important to note that no donations will be required this year. Your input will help us create a program that will be enjoyed by all.

The Satisfying the Hunger Homeless Outreach would like to express our gratitude for your unwavering support during the past sixteen years. Thanks to your generous donations and prayers, we have been able to provide care for thousands of people in need. As winter approaches, we seek blankets, large (and oversized) hoodies and coats, gloves, and stocking hats. You may drop off these items in the designated homeless bin at the Donation Depot. Thank you once again for your kind support.

As we enter the official season of giving thanks, I would like to extend a huge thank you for your continued support of our food drives. It is important to note that the need for such support is high in our community, and some local pantry supplies are so depleted that they cannot open on all of their regular days. On average, PUMC supports 5 pantries every month. Therefore, please consider filling a grocery bag or making a financial donation to help us continue to bless our neighbors. If you prefer to make a monetary donation, please direct it to Mission In the Memo.
