From Campus to Congregation: Welcome the Students of Purdue Wesley

This Sunday is Palm Sunday—and something special is happening.

Students from the Purdue Wesley Foundation, our United Methodist campus ministry at Purdue University, are stepping out of campus life and into the heart of our church for a weekend that connects generations and deepens faith.

They are here March 28–29 for their spring retreat—serving together, sharing meals, building community and preparing to lead alongside us in worship.

Join us for worship:

  • NewDay Praise Worship — 10 a.m. Worship Annex

And on Sunday, you will see it.

You will feel it.

Then don’t leave.

Stay for a 30-minute forum at 11:15 a.m. in the Worship Annex. Hear directly from the students and Wesley Director Glen Robyne as they share what life and faith look like on campus, what is happening at Wesley and how you can be part of it.

This is more than a visit, it is a connection. It is a glimpse of the future of the Church.

All ages are invited.

Come be part of a church that is growing stronger—together.

Courageous Conversations

Step into meaningful dialogue. On April 18, from 1–3 p.m., join us in the Worship Annex for the Courageous Conversations Workshop.

This interactive training session equips you to navigate difficult or contentious topics facing the church today.

You will practice skills that foster honest dialogue, active listening and respectful engagement. These tools strengthen relationships at church, at home and in everyday life.

Come ready to learn, speak and listen in a safe, friendly and loving environment. Grow in confidence. Lead with grace. Engage with courage.

Register today at: pumc.link/cpi.

Reception for Eiric Shriner, Communications Director

Join the Staff Parish Relations Committee as we celebrate and send off Eiric Shriner, our Communications Director.

For more than a decade, Eiric has shaped how we tell our story—bringing creativity, excellence and heart to everything he touched. His impact is everywhere, and he will be deeply missed.

Let’s come together to thank him and send him forward with our gratitude and prayers.

Sunday, April 12, after each service. Enjoy light refreshments, and bring a card or gift to place in the reception basket.

Come celebrate. Come give thanks. Come send him off with the love he deserves.

What’s Happening with PUMC Youth? – Mar. 22 at 10:00 am

Youth Worship — Sunday, Mar. 22
10 a.m. • Room 200
This Sunday: And Then They Will Know Who We Are

This week in youth we’ll explore Jesus’ powerful words from the Last Supper: “By this everyone will know you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Students will look at how love—not popularity, talent, or influence—is meant to be the defining mark of followers of Jesus. Through discussion and real-life examples, we’ll talk about what that kind of love looks like in friendships, at school, and online. Together we’ll wrestle with the question: if people watched our lives, would they know we belong to Jesus? It’s a reminder that the way we treat others can be one of the clearest ways we show the world who we follow.

Read Ahead: John 13:31–38

From Campus to Congregation: Meet the Students of Purdue Wesley

Students from Purdue Wesley Foundation – our United Methodist Campus Ministry at Purdue University – will hold their spring retreat at PUMC Saturday and Sunday, March 28-29. They will overnight in the youth rooms, participate in a service project and share dinner and devotions before helping lead us in worship on Palm Sunday. After worship on the 29th, Wesley Foundation students, along with Wesley’s Director, Glen Robyne, will hold a 30-minute forum in the Worship Annex beginning at 11:15 to share more about what college/campus ministry is like, the current happenings at Wesley and their vision for how you can partner with them the future. All ages are invited and encouraged to attend as we strengthen our connection to our college students and grow across generations!

We Are So Close to Something Incredible

Elaine Jacone set a goal of 400 Personal Dignity Kits. Because of your generosity, we are already beyond that—and now 1,000 is within reach. What a gift this is to our neighbors. What a witness of care and compassion.

Let’s finish strong, together.

If you have already shopped, please bring your items to church before Easter Sunday so we can sort and prepare everything for packing day.

If you are still planning to give, this is the time. We especially need:

  • Shampoo (12–19 oz)
  • Deodorant (2–3 oz, stick or roll-on)
  • Lotion (8–10 oz)
  • Bar soap (3–4 oz)

Please check sizes so each kit is complete and ready to go.

Prefer to shop online? You can order today and have everything shipped directly to the church: pumc.link/9wr

If shopping is not your thing, you can still help. A financial gift goes a long way, and Elaine will make sure it turns into exactly what is needed.

And then come be part of it.

Join us Sunday, April 12, right after the 10:00 worship, as we assemble these kits together. This is simple, meaningful work—and it matters.

Stop by the display table and sign up. Help us prepare. Help us reach 1,000.

We are close. Let’s take the last step—together.

Youth Worship — Sunday, Mar. 1
10 a.m. • Room 200
This Sunday: 2 Roads

This week in youth, we’ll explore a contrast from the final week of Jesus’ life: one person honored him with a costly act of devotion, while another chose betrayal for money.
Students will reflect on how small choices become forks in the road that shape our lives and what it means to choose devotion to Jesus in everyday moments—at school, with friends and online.

Read Ahead: Matthew 26:6–16

Get Connected at PUMC

Looking for an easy way to stay connected at Plainfield United Methodist Church? The Hospitality Committee is here to help.

On April 12, after each service, members of the committee will host a connection table in the Main Lobby. Stop by to take a simple next step in getting plugged in at PUMC.

At the table you can:

  • Request a name tag
  • Sign up for church text messages
  • Join the online church directory (and have your picture taken if you wish)
  • Add your email to receive the weekly eNews and the monthly Circuit Rider newsletter

For privacy and security, only those with an approved directory account can view the church directory. All requests are reviewed by the PUMC directory administrator.

You do not need to be a member of PUMC to participate. Anyone who attends and wants to stay connected is welcome.

What’s Happening with PUMC Youth? – Mar. 8 at 10:00 am

Youth Worship — Sunday, Mar. 1
10 a.m. • Room 200
This Sunday: Don’t Take the Bait

This week in youth, we’ll look at a moment when people tried to trap Jesus with a tough question about taxes. Instead of reacting the way everyone expected, Jesus responded with wisdom and peace, showing us that not every argument is worth fighting. Students will explore what it means to “not take the bait” when drama, pressure, or conflict show up in their lives. Together we’ll talk about how our reactions, choices, and words can reflect the image of God we carry every day.
