Basic Ministry Budget: Belonging & Congregational Care

“Community is the place of belonging; the place where we discover our true selves by being loved as we are.” — Henri Nouwen

This month we celebrate faithful stewardship and the resources that support our ministries of Belonging and Care. Seven percent—$71,000—of our annual budget is dedicated to this focus. These resources make it possible for guests to feel at home from their very first visit, for members to find encouragement and fellowship, and for all to receive spiritual support and compassion in life’s most challenging moments.

The Belonging and Congregational Care portion of the budget includes:

  • Support for the Hospitality Team, greeters, ushers, and Coffee Ministry
  • Resources for Congregational Care, including Stephen Ministry and Grief Care
  • Funding for fellowship opportunities and group-forming ministries

As with each segment of our narrative budget, this portion includes not only direct ministry expenses but also the staffing and resources that make them possible. Together, these investments ensure that everyone—from first-time guests to long-time members—can find belonging and care in Christ’s love.

Euchre Is Back! October 8, 2025

The air is turning crisp, the days a little shorter—perfect weather to come inside and play Euchre!

Mark your calendars for the first Wednesday of every month and join us in the Worship Annex (NewDay Praise area) from 2:00–4:00 p.m.

Haven’t played in a while? Never learned at all? No problem—you’re welcome here. Come for the fun, fellowship, and maybe even a little friendly competition.

Women’s Ministries at PUMC: Connection, Growth, and Grace

At Plainfield United Methodist Church, women of all ages are invited to join United Women in Faith Circles—small groups that focus on faith, fellowship, and service. Circles provide a welcoming place to study the Bible, pray together, build lasting friendships, and take part in mission projects that support both our church family and the wider community.

Rooted in a long Methodist tradition of women serving with courage and compassion, these groups are designed to help participants grow spiritually while making a positive impact. Whether you are seeking deeper connection, opportunities to serve, or simply a place to belong, PUMC’s Women’s Circles offer a warm and supportive community.

Take the next step—visit pumc.org/women, explore the Circle opportunities, and join a group where you can connect, grow, and serve with grace.

What’s Happening With PUMC Youth?: Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025

Youth Worship at 10 a.m. in Room 200
This Sunday: Faith That Won’t Fall

Everyone loves a good origin story. When it comes to faith, the foundation matters most. Just like a Jenga tower, the wrong bottom blocks can make everything collapse—but the resurrection of Jesus is the block that holds it all together. Because he’s alive, we can build a faith that lasts no matter what questions or challenges come our way.

Read ahead: Matthew 28:2–6.

Pack the Pantry this Saturday

Hunger doesn’t take a day off—and neither do we! Join us THIS Saturday, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. at Kroger on Main Street for our Pack the Pantry food collection. Every can, box, and bag you give goes straight to the PFC Food Pantry to feed neighbors right here at home.

Bonus power move: Swing by Meijer and grab a Simply Give $10 card—it’s DOUBLE MATCH DAY! That means your $10 turns into $30 of food for families in need.

Two quick stops. Huge impact. Countless full bellies.

Tell your friends. Bring your family. Be the difference.

Let’s PACK that Pantry and fill hearts (and carts) this Saturday!

Whether it’s your first time or you’ve been attending for years, this is a welcoming space to connect with God and one another.

Bring your Bible, bring a friend, and come hungry—for food, fellowship, and God’s Word. All are welcome—just as you are.

What’s Happening with PUMC Youth? – Sep. 14, 2025

Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025
Youth Worship | 10 a.m. | Room 200

This week’s theme: You Can Trust Before You Know Everything.

Do you prefer tidy endings or cliffhangers that leave you wondering? Faith often feels like that tension. The good news: we don’t have to choose sides. God created everything—including science—and our faith rests not on knowing all the answers but on trusting the One behind it all: Jesus. You don’t have to know everything to trust someone.

Read ahead: Colossians 1:15–17.
