At Plainfield UMC, we believe that caring for children is a sacred calling. Our nursery ministry creates a safe, loving environment where infants and toddlers experience God’s love through gentle care, play, and stories. We’re looking for a Sunday Morning Nursery Worker to be part of this ministry. Reliable, caring, and ready to serve? This may be the perfect opportunity for you.
The Fish Fry is behind us and summer is winding down—now it’s time to get back to the important things… Euchre!
Mark your calendars for the first Wednesday of every month and join us in the Worship Annex from 2:00–4:00 p.m.
Haven’t played in a while? Not sure how to play at all? No problem—you’re more than welcome! Come for the fun, fellowship, and maybe even a little friendly competition.
KIDS@PUMC is creating a special cookbook—just in time for Christmas! We’d love your favorite family recipes—Grandma’s pie, Dad’s chili, or your child’s favorite snack. You may even submit fun DIYs like play dough or slime.
On Sunday, Sept. 28, join us for the annual CROP Walk—a community event where every step helps fight hunger locally and globally. Together we’ll raise funds for Church World Service and local hunger relief, providing food, clean water, and hope to families in need.
After the walk, stick around for our Ice Cream Social with cookies and conversation—a sweet way to celebrate the impact we make together.
Get Involved:
Walk – Lace up and join the team. Give – Sponsor a walker or make a donation. Invite – Encourage friends and family to participate.
Sunday, Sept. 28 | CROP Walk + Ice Cream Social | All Ages Welcome Let’s walk with purpose—and work to end hunger.
Music moves us. It entertains, soothes, energizes and inspires. In worship, music does even more—it connects us with God and one another in a way words alone cannot.
Every song we share in worship is the result of many steps: composing, arranging, selecting, rehearsing and, finally, offering the music to God and the congregation. It’s a treasured tradition at PUMC, and we need your help to keep it vibrant.
Maybe you’ve sung in a choir, played in a band, taken piano lessons or simply enjoy singing in the shower. Whatever your experience level, we can help you find the right place to serve. You’ll make music, build friendships and have fun in the process.
Opportunities include:
NewDay Praise Band – Rehearses Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. in the Worship Annex
Sanctuary Choir – Rehearses Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. in the Music Room
Sanctuary Bells – Rehearses Mondays, 6:30–7:30 p.m. in the Main Lobby
Ensemble rehearsals are underway or starting soon. To learn more or get involved, contact Brent Miller at 317-839-2319, ext. 223, or email bmiller@pumc.org.
Come share your gift and join the song God is writing at PUMC.
Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025 Youth Worship at 10 a.m. in Room 200! This Sunday: Brandon Intro & “The Heart of It All”
This Sunday we’re diving into the two greatest commandments Jesus gave—to love God with everything we are and to love our neighbor as ourselves. These two simple commands hold the power to transform our relationships, our communities, and our faith. Together, we’ll explore what it means to love God fully, how to love others, and why these two commands can’t be separated. Read Ahead: Matthew 22:36–40 and Mark 12:28–34
Fall Kick-Off Cookout Planning
The youth are joining forces with the Men’s Group for this year’s cookout. The men will provide the food (hog roast!), while the youth take charge of games, activities, and maybe even put together a playlist with Bluetooth speakers. The planning team needs youth input to make this event awesome! If you’d like to help, let Brandon know so you can be included in the planning meeting.

Threshold Singers of Hendricks County (TSHC) is a group of women who provide a calming presence at the bedside through gentle, peaceful, and soothing music. They sing in groups of three or four to bring peace and comfort to patients and their loved ones.
The music is especially appropriate for people at or near “the threshold” of life, regardless of spiritual beliefs. Their gift, offered free of charge.
The Threshold Singers will perform in the Sanctuary during the 8:45 and 10 a.m. worship services.
If you have a loved one nearing the end of life who would benefit from being sung to, contact Carol Foxworthy at 317-626-4382 to schedule a visit.
The Threshold Singers are grateful for their partnership with PUMC, which provides space for rehearsals.
This August, PUMC is launching our Fall Food Drive to help meet the needs of our neighbors facing food insecurity. The shelves of our local food pantries often run low during the late summer and early fall months, but together, we can help fill them up.
Starting this Sunday, you can pick up a food donation bag in the Main Lobby. Each bag includes a list of most-needed items such as canned meats, peanut butter, pasta, cereal, and shelf-stable milk. Simply take a bag home, shop for the items on the list, and return it to the Main Lobby when it’s full.
Your donations will be shared with local food pantries that serve families and individuals in our community. For many, these bags will mean the difference between skipping meals and having enough to eat.
How to Participate:
Pick up a food drive bag in the Main Lobby.
Fill it with nonperishable food items from the provided list.
Return the filled bag to the Main Lobby by the end of August.
Even one bag makes a difference. Let’s work together to stock the shelves, nourish bodies, and show God’s love in a tangible way.
Pick up a bag. Fill it. Bring it back. Bless a neighbor.
