Basic Ministry Budget: Service to Others

This week, we highlight the Basic Ministry Budget.

The operating budget for Plainfield United Methodist Church is more than line items on a spreadsheet. It’s a story of love in action. PUMC uses gifts to the budget to show God’s BIG Love and help others grow in faith.

Out of every dollar you generously give to support the Basic Ministry Budget, 15 cents of it supports Service to Others.

Service: $155,002

Service is one of PUMC’s core values, and our congregation is motivated by God’s BIG Love to be the hands and feet for countless outreach initiatives in Plainfield, Hendricks County, and around the globe. It starts in our own backyard with programs like Monday Night Homeless Ministry, Second & Last Saturday Lunch, and the Family Assistance Fund. Support extends to local organizations like Family Promise of Hendricks County, St. Mark’s Food Pantry, and Sheltering Wings, and it culminates in adult and youth mission trips throughout the year. Proceeds from PUMC’s annual Fish Fry support ongoing outreach and mission efforts.

Thank you for supporting Service to Others here at PUMC!

Total 2023 Basic Ministry
Budget: $1,033,349

NewDay Praise is looking for Communion Stewards!

What’s a Communion Steward? These are folks willing to set up and clean up Holy Communion each month or help serve communion during worship. We are bringing back this practice involving the larger congregation in our communal worship as we all seek to use our gifts to enhance our shared experience in the body of faith. You need no prior training to participate; this is not a lifelong commitment! We believe it is a way to express our faith in and love for God and each other, and so we invite you to prayerfully consider serving in this way if you feel so called.

Those interested will have a brief orientation meeting to be scheduled later. If you are interested, please email Pastor Abby at alietz@pumc.org. Thank you for considering this act of service and love!

Rockin’ Chairs

Do you have a wooden rocking chair that you no longer use? NewDay Praise is in need of some rockin’ seating for parents with infants or small children. If you’re interested and willing to donate a rocking chair in good working condition, please email Pastor Abby at alietz@pumc.org. Thank you so much!

2023 PUMC Annual Community Fish Fry

Volunteer sign-ups begin TODAY (July 2) for the 2023 Fish Fry in the Main Lobby. If you don’t know your schedule for July 28 & 29 right now, sign-ups will continue July 9, 16, and 23. Stop at the tables and find a place to serve!

PUMC’s Annual Community Fish Fry is one of the most significant outreach events of the year. We welcome thousands of neighbors and friends and serve tons of food. The profits from the fish fry support missions near and far. Scout troops, youth groups, the Missions Committee, and others benefit from volunteering for this event. We are proud of the volunteers each year who participate by baking desserts, frying fish, serving the main line, and so much more.

From humble beginnings of welcoming home troops from WWII, the entire Plainfield community has embraced this annual event. Please plan on enjoying the excellent food and hospitality with us at this year’s fish fry.

Get Your Fish Fry Merch Today!

You can get your official PUMC Fish Fry Merch at www.pumc.org/fish-fry-merch. There are many new & different styles and colors of shirts and other fun stuff this year. All profits go to help support missions near and far.

Help provide meals for Family Promise: August 6 – 12

The families are all staying at the new shelter house, Almost Home (7233 E. County Road 300 S., Plainfield), and therefore meals are once again served family style! Supper is generally served around 6pm, but meals can be dropped off early at your convenience. You are also more than welcome to stay and eat with the families!

To provide a meal for the families during this next host week, August 6 – August 12, contact Mary Raver at mraver@pumc.org or sign up online.

Future dates for providing meals for Family Promise are December 3-9.
