Drive Thru Food Drive

As society returns to a sense of “normalcy,” there is still a need for food and personal care items. PUMC continues its work to show love, share hope, and serve those in need by collecting these items on Sundays between 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and Mondays between 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. PUMC volunteers will be in the church’s parking lot (600 Simmons St., Plainfield) to receive these gifts of food and personal care items. These donations supply PUMC’s hunger alleviation ministries, food pantries, and community support organizations in and around Plainfield.
Drop off your donations in the east parking lot. You don’t even have to get out of your car!
Head over to pumc.org or the pumc.org kiosk in the main lobby by the blue wall on Sundays for more information.

If you have questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Pastor Ken Loudenback at kloudenback@pumc.org or Mission Chairperson Ruth Ellen Stone at missions@pumc.org.

Second Saturday Lunch

We invite you to come in and pick up a carry-out meal between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on January 8, 2021. Please enter through door 14 and go to the kitchen, and someone will be there to get your meal. If you know of someone who might need a meal, visit “Ministries” on pumc.org or on the pumc.org kiosk located in the Main Lobby by the big blue wall.

Bank Your Gift

Any gift you make to the Plainfield United Methodist Church Endowment benefits our church forever. The principal amount of your gift is never spent. Only the income generated, year after year, by the donation, is utilized by the church. The endowment committee oversees your gift and invests it appropriately, considering the rate of return as well as security. Any gift to the endowment is gratefully received, regardless of its size. You can even designate how you wish your endowment gift to be utilized. A gift to the PUMC Endowment truly is a “forever gift.” If you would like more information about making a gift to the endowment, either as a lifetime gift or part of your estate plan, don’t hesitate to contact the Endowment Committee chairs: Zoe Wilrout, Ray Shannon, or Rev. Charlie Wilfong.

New Year Classic Worship Series

On January 2, 2022, we will launch a worship series in Classic Worship entitled “Make Good Choices.” We will survey some common proverbial wisdom. Sometimes humorous and often shared in families, these helpful life-management nuggets have a biblical basis. These explorations will help us make a good beginning of the new year by making good choices. If you have any cherished family “proverbs,” please pass them along to Pastor Charlie. Invite your friends!

Christmas Eve Offering for Family and Child Ministries

On Christmas Eve, December 24, PUMC will receive a special offering at all worship experiences (4, 7, 9, and 11 p.m.) to support local families and children in need. The entirety of that evening’s offerings will go to ministries and programs that support and assist children, youth, and families in the local area. These gifts carry the spirit of Christmas all year long! Thank you for your generosity.

Sanctuary Remodel

Plainfield UMC received a generous gift designated for sanctuary improvements. Charged to be good stewards of all that God provides, the Church Council invites the congregation to review a proposal and engage in an open discussion about the exciting options to update the sanctuary.

On Sunday, January 2, 2022, the meeting will take place in the sanctuary at 11:15 a.m.
We will live stream the meeting on pumc.org and keep the recording for later viewing. In addition to sharing at this gathering, find a feedback questionnaire at pumc.org to share your comments and questions.

Mark your calendar and plan to attend this very important discussion on January 2, 2022, at 11:15 a.m. in the sanctuary.

Bishop’s Offering for Children

Each year the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church lifts up the Bishop’s Offering for Children for support of children’s ministries locally and around the world. PUMC will receive this offering on Sunday, December 19, with special envelopes in the worship folder that Sunday.

Twenty percent of this offering supports the Indiana Conference Outdoor Ministries with scholarships for first time campers and children in need; 20% goes to the three Indiana United Methodist-related children and youth homes; 20% supports local outreach projects, 20% goes to United Methodist Advance projects (various national and international mission concerns); and 20% goes to the Bishop’s fund for emergency children’s projects.

Thank you for your generous support of this offering.
