The meaning of confirmation is closely related to that of baptism. Baptism and confirmation are part of an ongoing, lifelong process of growing in grace. The confirmation program is one piece of this lifelong process of Christian discipleship. The larger picture is Christian formation, being transformed – over time and through the work of God’s Spirit – into the image of Christ.
Confirmation seeks to give the youth a systematic overview of the faith – our identity, history and heritage, practices, and beliefs. This will include our heritage and traditions as a Christian community and as a United Methodist Family and our fundamental beliefs and commitments. In addition, youth will learn what it means to live a Christian life and be involved in the church’s mission in the world.
