Join Us for Trunk-or-Treat on Simmons Street: October 24, 2024

It’s that exciting time of year again—our annual Trunk-or-Treat is just around the corner! We invite you to dress up, bring your festive spirit, and join us for an evening of fun. There are plenty of ways you can get involved to make this event a success:

  • Decorate a Trunk: Bring your creativity! You or your group can decorate a car trunk and hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters.
  • Cupcake Walk Helpers: Assist with organizing the Cupcake Walk during the event.
  • Donate Wrapped Treats: We’re looking for wrapped cupcakes or cookies for the Cupcake Walk.
  • Fire/S’mores Station Helpers: Help set up and manage the S’mores station for a toasty treat.
  • S’mores Donations: You can also contribute supplies by providing graham crackers, large marshmallows, or Hershey’s chocolate bars.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please email Jeannine Neuen at jcneuen@aol.com or sign up online at pumc.org/trunk-or-treat. You can also sign up in person at the Sign-Up Table in the Main Lobby this Sunday, October 20, after the 8:45 and 10:00 a.m. worship services.

Let’s make this a fantastic night for our community!

🌟 Join Us This Sunday, 10/13, to Celebrate Charity Aton! 🌟

This Sunday marks a special, yet bittersweet moment as we come together to celebrate Charity Aton’s last Sunday at Plainfield United Methodist Church (PUMC). Charity has been a valued part of our church family, and we want to give her a heartfelt send-off as she and Sonny embark on this new chapter of their lives.

After each service, we will be holding a reception in her honor, where we can gather to express our gratitude, share memories, and wish them well in their journey.

If you’d like to contribute, cards and love gifts are welcome to help Charity and Sonny settle into their new home. Let’s show them the love and support they’ve always given us!

We look forward to celebrating with you all this Sunday. Let’s make it a day filled with love, gratitude, and blessings. 💖

Join Us in Prayer for Florida

Hurricane Milton made landfall just South of Tampa Bay. We invite everyone to pray for the people of Florida, facing another devastating storm. With Milton impacting the same areas that were hit by Hurricane Helene, it is a critical time for communities in the region.

Please pray for the safety, resilience, and strength of those impacted as they endure another challenge. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, first responders, and all those involved in disaster response efforts.

UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is playing a pivotal role in this crisis. They are actively reaching out to conferences across the southeastern U.S., coordinating preparations, and offering support as communities brace for the impact of Hurricane Milton. Your support will directly contribute to these crucial efforts.

Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by Hurricane Milton. To donate to the relief efforts, please visit pumc.link/hurricanemilton. We are deeply grateful for your support, and we assure you that 100% of your gift will be used to directly assist those in need.

Crop Walk Update

We are thrilled to announce that 48 walkers participated in this year’s Crop Walk, raising over $2,400 to fight hunger in our community and beyond! While the final totals are still being tallied, this is already a fantastic achievement. A special highlight of this year’s walk was the participation of many first-time walkers from Plainfield United Methodist Church (PUMC) and other local churches. Your enthusiasm and dedication were truly inspiring!

A huge thank you to our congregation and the wider community for your generous support of this Mission’s ministry. Whether you walked, donated, or helped spread the word, your contributions have made a real difference. Together, we are not only raising funds but also raising awareness about hunger and food insecurity. Let’s continue this momentum as we look forward to the final totals. Every step truly counts!

What’s Happening with PUMC Youth?

Sunday, September 29, 2024

Youth Gathering kicks off at 9:40 a.m. in Room 204 with donuts and snacks!
At 10:00 a.m., head to Room 200 for Youth Worship, where we’ll dive into “AI 1: Think – Believe – Behave.” Are you ever judged for what you have or do? Do you measure others the same way? Life can feel out of control when success doesn’t bring a sense of worth. Let’s talk about how who you are is more than what you do. Read John 8:31-33 and Colossians 3:9-10 to prepare!

Plan, Create, and Serve: United Women in Faith’s October Circle Meetings

Our church’s United Women in Faith has three active circles, each committed to supporting women and children locally and globally. These groups warmly welcome all women, regardless of background or experience, to attend their meetings and events, ensuring everyone feels valued and included.

On October 8 at 2:00 p.m. in Clayton Hall, the Rachel Circle will host a special presentation by Christie Wright, showcasing the artwork she has contributed around our church. We also hope she’ll share insights from her experience with the Olympics! For more information, contact Jane Meyer.

Later that evening, at 7:00 p.m. in the Koinonia Room, the Hope Circle will gather to prepare for their Trunk or Treat event and assemble Birthday Kits for families at School 34. All are welcome to participate. Contact Jeanne Milligan for details.

The Mary Martha Circle will meet on October 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Wesley Room to plan their activities for the upcoming year, which include community outreach programs, charity events, and spiritual growth sessions. For more information, contact Martha Roath.
Join us for these meaningful gatherings as we work together to make a significant difference in the lives of women, inspiring and motivating each other along the way!

Thank You from The Missions Committee!

Thank you so much for all the school supplies and needed clothing you have generously provided for the students of Plainfield! The requests from the school counselors have been filled at Brentwood, Central, Clark’s Creek, Guilford, Van Buren, and Plainfield Middle School. Thank you also for your monetary donations of computer headsets for the elementary schools! This need is so crucial because the students have weekly testing in reading on the computer, math practice weekly on the computer, and all state testing is on the computer. The silence the over-the-ear headset gives the child enables them to concentrate and do their best work. Thank you so much!!

Once again, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous gifts to our children. Your support is invaluable and greatly appreciated. Thank you!
