Trunk or Treat on Simmons Street: A Sweet Success

What a night! Simmons Street was packed with laughter, costumes, and candy as more than 500 children and their families joined us for this year’s Trunk or Treat. Lots of decorated trunks, friendly volunteers, and buckets of candy made the evening one to remember.

A huge thank-you to everyone who donated candy, decorated trunks, and helped welcome our neighbors with warmth and joy. Your generosity and creativity helped Plainfield UMC share the love of Christ in a fun, family-friendly way.

Events like this remind us that when our community gathers, good things happen.

Angel Tree: Share God’s Love This Christmas

Help bring Christmas joy to children whose parents are incarcerated through Angel Tree, a ministry of Plainfield UMC that connects our congregation with families in need.

When you select an “angel” from the tree, you’ll provide a Christmas gift, a Bible, and a personal message from the child’s parent—reminding each child that they are loved and never forgotten.

You can get involved by:

  • Choosing an angel and purchasing gifts from the wish list.
  • Donating toward gifts or supplies if you prefer not to shop.
  • Volunteering to help with sorting and delivery.
  • Praying for the children, their families, and all who serve.

Trees will be available through November 30 in the Main Lobby. Let’s share hope, joy, and God’s love with families in our community this Christmas.

Laity Sunday& Ministry Fair: Sunday, November 9

“Written in Service” (1 Peter 4:7–11)
Celebrate Laity Sunday as members of our congregation share how serving deepens discipleship.

Laity will lead in worship—including serving communion—and we’ll offer prayers for all who serve in ministry.

Following worship, join us for the Ministry Fair, 9:45–11:30 a.m., in the Main Lobby. More than twenty church ministries will be represented!

  • Learn what each ministry has accomplished and their vision for 2026.
  • Discover ways to get involved and use your gifts in service.
  • Meet team representatives and hear why their ministry is a great place to serve.

Come be inspired, connect with others, and celebrate how God is working through the many ministries of our church!

Children’s Sabbath in Classic Worship: Sunday, November 16

Join us for a joyful celebration of our youngest disciples during Children’s Sabbath in Classic Worship. On this special Sunday, children from preschool through eighth grade will share their gifts and lead us in worship.

The morning will include:

  • Readings for the Call to Worship, prayers, and scripture led by children
  • A longer Children’s Moment in both the 8:45 and 10:00 a.m. services
  • Prayers for children locally and around the world
  • Original artwork from our kids featured in the worship folder

This meaningful service shines a light on how God is at work through Plainfield UMC’s children’s ministry—weekday programs, Sunday morning classes, monthly family gatherings, and mission efforts that serve children near and far.

Come celebrate the faith, creativity, and promise of our children as they lead us in worship and remind us of Jesus’ words: “Let the little children come to me.”
