Basic Ministry Budget: Service to Others

This week, we highlight the Basic Ministry Budget.

The operating budget for Plainfield United Methodist Church is more than line items on a spreadsheet. It’s a story of love in action. PUMC uses gifts to the budget to show God’s BIG Love and help others grow in faith.

Out of every dollar you generously give to support the Basic Ministry Budget, 15 cents of it supports Support Systems.

Support Services: $155,002

If PUMC’s building is home base, then support systems keep our home healthy and strong. From kitchen supplies to communion elements, this budget area provides for the critical tools, equipment, and other resources required to execute countless ministries. Examples include printers, regular organ maintenance, in-house media equipment, live-streaming services, office supplies, media subscriptions like RightNow Media, music licenses, digital properties like our website, plus any “odds or ends” you might think of. We couldn’t do what we do without them.

Thank you for supporting our “Support Systems” here at PUMC!

Total 2023 Basic Ministry Budget: $1,033,349

For more information about the PUMC Basic Ministry Budget and the Narrative Budget, see the January or February Circuit Rider or check out pumc.link/2023NB.

Food Drive

Thank you for supporting our food pantry collection since March 2020. We collect every Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at door number 1. You can also drop off food at The Donation Depot during office hours. If you need assistance, contact Pastor Ken at 317-590-9589. Your donations help meet the increasing demand for food. Thank you for making a difference in our community.

Bundle Up Hendricks County Coat Drive

The Plainfield Church Federation is organizing a coat drive called “Bundle Up Hendricks County” to help needy families. Families need new or nearly new coats, scarves, gloves, and other cold-weather gear. Donations can be dropped off in marked barrels at the church. The coat drive runs from September 24 to October 7. The collected items will be distributed on October 14 at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds. Let’s keep each other warm this winter season.

Kairos brings the Love of Christ to Those Who Need it Most

Our team is gearing up for a Kairos weekend at Plainfield Correctional Facility from Thursday, September 28th to Sunday, October 1st. We want to establish a Christian community within the institution and show all inmates that Jesus Christ’s love and forgiveness are attainable.
A women’s team is also preparing for a Kairos weekend at Rockville Correctional Facility from November 16th to November 19th.

To sign up for prayer during the weekend, donate, or register for the Closing Ceremony on Sunday, October 1st, visit our table in the main lobby on September 17th and September 24th.

CROP Walk: Helping Alleviate Hunger One Step at a Time

Join us for the CROP Walk this year and help us raise awareness and funds to combat hunger worldwide and in our local communities. We’re partnering with Faith in Blue, a local initiative that connects members of our community who serve in the police force and whose faith drives their service.

The walk will take place on Sunday, October 1st, at 2:00 p.m. at Talon Park Pavilion (just north of the Aquatic Center). We’ll be walking alongside Kyle Prewitt, Plainfield’s Chief of Police. After the walk, we’ll have an Ice Cream Social back at Talon Park, where you can chat with Chief Prewitt and some of his officers about how their faith impacts their service.

If you’re interested in participating or have any questions, please get in touch with Mary Geible at 317-513-9693 or marygeible50@gmail.com. Remember to pick up your sponsor form at the CROP Walk table in the main lobby. Thank you for being so supportive! Even if you can’t walk, you can still join us for ice cream at 3:00 p.m.

Youth Fall Kick-off Cookout

Join us for the Fall Kick-off cookout at PUMC on September 10th! All PUMC youth, alums, children, families, and friends are welcome to attend this Youth Group tradition. We’ll have Burgers, Brats, Hot Dogs, and drinks. Please let Bob know if you can bring a salad, a side dish, or a dessert.

If you can help, we need a few adults to help with grilling and set up. If you are interested in helping out with this great event, please get in touch with Pastor Bob at bpreusch@pumc.org or call him at 317.839.2319 ext. 230.
