From Food Waste to Food Rescue: the Quarterly Food Drive Makes a Difference in Our Community

Did you know that Plainfield United Methodist Church (PUMC) actively supports five different food pantries? Your donations, whether in the form of food or financial aid, play a critical role in helping PUMC provide hope to those struggling to make ends meet. We sincerely appreciate your unwavering support.

We invite you to participate in our upcoming Food Drive, starting August 6, 2023. You can either fill a grocery bag with non-perishable food items or donate financially to help us continue providing food to those in need.

Your generosity can make a significant impact on the lives of those who are less fortunate. Thank you for your continued support!

Stephen Glover

Stephen Glover, a native of Indiana, attended the Jordan College of Music at Butler University, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in piano performance. After that, he joined the Butler music faculty, teaching piano, music theory, keyboard harmony, and coaching accompanists. Stephen has performed extensively in solo recitals and chamber music concerts in the Indianapolis area. He has also appeared with the Butler Symphony and Carmel Symphony Orchestras. Before coming to Plainfield, Stephen served as pianist and accompanist for five years at Yorkshire UMC in York, Pennsylvania.

Missions in the Memo

PUMC engages in dozens of missions projects that assist those in need and messages of God’s Good News both around the corner and worldwide. Glory to God! You support those projects through generous financial gifts, gifts in kind through various supplies, and hands-on service. Thank you!

When you provide an undesignated gift to PUMC missions, mark it “Missions in the memo.” When you do, the Missions Committee will prayerfully distribute those undesignated missions gifts to projects beyond our operations with timely needs and priorities.

Thank you!

Basic Ministry Budget: Service to Others

This week, we highlight the Basic Ministry Budget.

The operating budget for Plainfield United Methodist Church is more than line items on a spreadsheet. It’s a story of love in action. PUMC uses gifts to the budget to show God’s BIG Love and help others grow in faith.

Out of every dollar you generously give to support the Basic Ministry Budget, 15 cents of it supports Service to Others.

Service: $155,002

Service is one of PUMC’s core values, and our congregation is motivated by God’s BIG Love to be the hands and feet for countless outreach initiatives in Plainfield, Hendricks County, and around the globe. It starts in our own backyard with programs like Monday Night Homeless Ministry, Second & Last Saturday Lunch, and the Family Assistance Fund. Support extends to local organizations like Family Promise of Hendricks County, St. Mark’s Food Pantry, and Sheltering Wings, and it culminates in adult and youth mission trips throughout the year. Proceeds from PUMC’s annual Fish Fry support ongoing outreach and mission efforts.

Thank you for supporting Service to Others here at PUMC!

Total 2023 Basic Ministry
Budget: $1,033,349

NewDay Praise is looking for Communion Stewards!

What’s a Communion Steward? These are folks willing to set up and clean up Holy Communion each month or help serve communion during worship. We are bringing back this practice involving the larger congregation in our communal worship as we all seek to use our gifts to enhance our shared experience in the body of faith. You need no prior training to participate; this is not a lifelong commitment! We believe it is a way to express our faith in and love for God and each other, and so we invite you to prayerfully consider serving in this way if you feel so called.

Those interested will have a brief orientation meeting to be scheduled later. If you are interested, please email Pastor Abby at alietz@pumc.org. Thank you for considering this act of service and love!

Rockin’ Chairs

Do you have a wooden rocking chair that you no longer use? NewDay Praise is in need of some rockin’ seating for parents with infants or small children. If you’re interested and willing to donate a rocking chair in good working condition, please email Pastor Abby at alietz@pumc.org. Thank you so much!
