Plainfield UMC’s men, young men, and guests gather at the church on the third Saturday of every month at 8:30 a.m. for food and fellowship.
We meet in Clayton Hall/Worship Annex. Bring an empty stomach, a friend, and your Bible! Be ready to be nourished through delicious food and the word of God! Hope to see you there!
Check our pumc.org or the pumc.org kiosk by the blue wall in the main lobby for more information.

Second Saturday Lunch

We invite you to come in and pick up a carry-out meal between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on February 12, 2021. Please enter through door 14 and go to the kitchen, and someone will be there to get your meal. If you know of someone who might need a meal, visit “Ministries” on pumc.org or on the pumc.org kiosk located in the Main Lobby by the big blue wall.

Imagine No Malaria

The United Methodist Church supports a ministry called Imagine No Malaria, providing bed nets to countries in Africa. Malaria is a sickness caused by a parasite transmitted through the bite of a mosquito, usually at night. It begins with flu-like symptoms and, if untreated, leads to convulsions, organ failure, and death, a preventable death! A whole family can sleep and be safe under just one net. The nurse at Madina Village School distributes nets and plastic mattresses each year to the students and their families. Then she goes to each family and shows them how to properly install the nets.

PUMC has supported the countries of Africa with this ministry for more than 9 years. We are asking for your help again this year! Please also pray that the children of Africa may all grow to adulthood.

Dates: February 13 and February 20
Amount: $10.00 per net (checks payable to PUMC with Imagine No Malaria on the memo line.)

2022 Basic Ministry Budget

This week, we highlight the Basic Ministry Budget.
The operating budget for Plainfield United Methodist Church is more than line items on a spreadsheet. It’s a story of love in action. PUMC uses gifts to the budget to show God’s BIG Love and help others grow in faith.
Out of every dollar you generously give to support the Basic Ministry Budget, 30 cents of it supports worship.

Worship: $288,173

Our hope is that every person who participates in worship on Sunday morning can praise God in the manner that is most meaningful for them. This may look like our traditional Classic worship experience at 8:45 and 10:00 a.m., contemporary NewDay Praise at 10 a.m., Youth worship at 10:00 a.m.; a seat in worship or an enhanced live stream experience on pumc.org. No matter how someone chooses to engage with us, we always seek to create a space and an experience where people who don’t know Jesus can meet him, those who do know Jesus can grow in that relationship, and everyone can find a warm welcome and safe place to ask questions and talk about faith.

Total 2022 Basic Ministry Budget: $959,782

For more information about the PUMC Basic Ministry Budget and the Narrative Budget, see the January or February (coming soon) Circuit Rider or check out “This & That”under “Resources” at pumc.org

The Big Game Virtual Bake Sale

Once again, Covid has forced the UMW Big Game Bake Same held on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb 13, 2022, to go virtual.

The 2022 Big Game Bake Sale donations will support IPS School #34 Food Pantry and Madina Village School Backpack Project.

Our UMW Bakers will be donating their baking expenses to the Bake Sale instead of baking in 2022!

Suppose you would like to support our Virtual Bake sale, save a few calories, and support needy missions. In that case, donations can be submitted through the regular PUMC giving channels throughout February. Please make a notation for the UMW Virtual Bake Sale.

Demand has increased the need for assistance at the monthly IPS School #34 Food. The pantry provides canned, boxed, and fresh ingredients such as milk and eggs.

The Plainfield UMW has supported the graduating students of Madina Village School with backpacks as a reward for all their hard work and studying toward the National Test. The 2021 Madina graduates were thrilled with their backpacks.

Plainfield United Methodist Women Thank you for your participation and support.

Kitchen Renovation Listening Post

As a part of PUMC’s Transforming-4-Tomorrow, work has begun to plan an updated and renovated kitchen. The first step in this planning is to understand the mission and needs of the church.

In November of 2021, several sessions were held with small groups to gather input for kitchen needs and desires. There will be an additional input session open to all of the church on Sunday, January 23, at 11:00 am in the Sanctuary.

During the input session on January 23, you can hear about the approach to the kitchen renovation project and provide your input for the kitchen for topics including appliances, storage, food prep, and layout.

If you cannot provide input in person, you can send your submit your input online at pumc.org.

The kitchen helps to serve many PUMC ministries in the name of Christ, including:

  • Monday Night Homeless Ministry – Dinners prepared and delivered to the homeless in downtown Indianapolis
  • 2nd and Last Saturday Lunch Program – Lunches for the local community (dine-in) and delivered to local shelter organizations and low-income housing areas with no charge (donations accepted).
  • Annual Community Fish Fry – A fish fry dinner held since the late 1940s at the request of town leadership to “boost the spirits of residents” after WWII. Proceeds support Scouts, PUMC Youth, and church missions.
  • Church Group Dinners – Various dinners for small groups, holidays, bereavement, etc.
  • Worship Hospitality – Coffee and snack preparation for worship services.

Thank you for being a part of our kitchen’s essential and exciting transformation!

Drive Thru Food Drive

As society returns to a sense of “normalcy,” there is still a need for food and personal care items. PUMC continues its work to show love, share hope, and serve those in need by collecting these items on Sundays between 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and Mondays between 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. PUMC volunteers will be in the church’s parking lot (600 Simmons St., Plainfield) to receive these gifts of food and personal care items. These donations supply PUMC’s hunger alleviation ministries, food pantries, and community support organizations in and around Plainfield.
Drop off your donations in the east parking lot. You don’t even have to get out of your car!
Head over to pumc.org or the pumc.org kiosk in the main lobby by the blue wall on Sundays for more information.
