Change the World: Group Study & Discussion

Wednesdays, beginning May 1 through June 5, 5:30-7pm, Change The World, co-facilitated by Kathy Perry and Pastor Abby.

Over these 6 weeks, we will read and discuss UMC Pastor Mike Slaughter’s book Change the World: Daily Inspiration to Make a Difference. Mike writes what we know to be true: Church is a verb. Linking Bible study to global mission and local service projects, this study enables small groups within congregations to discuss and act on the imperatives of scriptures. We will read Pastor Mike’s book, study scripture, watch short video clips of the mission in action, and pray and dream together how we will Follow, Welcome, Feed, Heal, Rescue, and Go! You’re invited to join us!

Walking Tacos Walk: May 5, 2024

Join us for Walking Tacos and a walk in the park on Cinco de Mayo Sunday, May 5th! We’ll meet after morning worship in the Worship Annex at 11:15 and head to Hummel Park, where we’ll eat a simple lunch (provided) and enjoy a walk in the hopefully wonderful spring weather! Bring your own beverage and sturdy walking shoes/outdoor gear as needed. We’ll adjust plans to account for inclement weather if necessary.

Get Connected

The Hospitality & Outreach committee wants to help you connect with Plainfield UMC this May. On May 5th and 12th, committee members will have a table in the lobby after each service. Visiting the table is the easiest way to request a name tag, sign up for the directory (and have your picture taken if you like), and/or sign up for the weekly eNews and monthly Circuit Rider (newsletter) email list. Please remember that only those with a directory account can view the directory, and all requests are approved by the PUMC directory admin.

You do not need to be a member of PUMC to participate. Any attendee who wishes to partake of these connection points is welcome to do so.

Announcement from Staff Parish regarding Children’s Ministries

PUMC will be recruiting for a Coordinator of Children’s Ministries, who will be responsible for the Children’s ministries on Sunday morning and the special activities throughout the year that accompany it. Charity Aton has held this position for several years in addition to her position as Director of Preschool Programs for PUMC. We are so grateful for all the work Charity has put into building our Children’s Ministry. It is growing by leaps and bounds, so Charity has decided to take a step back and focus more energy on the Kids@PUMC Weekday programs. Don’t worry, Charity will still be here; you will see her throughout the week and enjoying services on Sunday morning! She is just going to enjoy a little more work/life balance.

We expect this position to be posted this week. When you see Charity, please thank her for all her great work with the children. She is well-loved by them all!

Attention Volunteers: Children’s Sunday School Leaders Needed

If you are interested in volunteering or have any questions, please get in touch with Charity Aton and JR Raffe at caton@pumc.org. Join us in our mission to make a difference in our community and children’s lives!.

Endowment Fund Works!

We are delighted to share the latest news about the impact of your contributions to the Endowment Fund. Your generous donations have allowed us to award a significant grant of $3,400 to the “Food For Others” mission project. This project plays a crucial role in providing essential food supplies to those in need, and your donations have helped to make a meaningful difference in their lives.

It is essential to note that the Endowment Fund utilizes only the income generated by your gifts, while the principal gift remains in the Endowment indefinitely. This ensures that we can continue supporting programs like “Food For Others” for years to come, making your contributions “forever gifts.”

We want to express our deepest gratitude for your continued support, which makes it possible for us to carry out our mission successfully. Your contributions to the Endowment Fund have made a significant impact, and we hope you will continue to support us in the future.
