A New Year for Women at PUMC

The United Women in Faith (UWF), formerly United Methodist Women, has planned a series of activities for 2024 to enhance the lives of women, children, and youth.

On February 11, 2024, we will organize our annual Big Game Bake Sale. You can choose from various treats to take to your Big Game gathering or enjoy with your family. The donations collected during the bake sale will support Madina Village School in Sierra Leone and Eleanor Skillen School 34 Food Pantry in Indianapolis.

On Tuesday, February 13, Rachel Circle will pack backpacks for Madina Village School. You can join them at 2 pm in the Worship Annex to help write notes for the students and learn more about Madina Village School.

We are excited to announce the launch of Book Boosters in March 2024! Book Boosters will meet on the last Tuesdays of March, May, July, September, and November. If you want to learn more, please get in touch with Martha Roath via email at mjroath@msn.com or phone at 317-839-6418.

February 2024 Quarterly Food Drive

It’s important to note that PUMC regularly supports not one, not two, but five different food pantries. If you want to make a real difference, consider making a financial or food contribution to help us continue to provide hope to those in need. Your continued support is greatly appreciated!
Take advantage of the opportunity to make a difference! On February 4, grab a grocery bag on your way out or make a financial contribution to help us continue to feed those who need it most. Together, we can make a real impact!

Scouting at PUMC

PUMC has partnered with Scouting, BSA for over 50 years to provide a volunteer-run youth outdoor program. Our activities, including camping, hiking, and the pinewood derby, are designed to be fun and purposeful and help our Scouts make friends, create memories, and develop lifelong skills.

Our mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices by instilling in them the Scout Oath and Law values. At PUMC, we are committed to living and serving our community, and we hope to continue doing so with our Scouting program.

Basic Ministry Budget: Worship

We want to bring your attention to the Basic Ministry Budget of Plainfield United Methodist Church. This budget is not just a list of expenses but a demonstration of God’s love in action. Your kind donations towards the budget help others grow in their faith and spread God’s BIG Love.

Worship: $284,499

Out of every dollar you donate, 27 cents go towards supporting worship. We want everyone who joins us for worship to have a meaningful experience that suits them best. This can be through our traditional Classic worship at 8:45 and 10:00 a.m., contemporary NewDay Praise at 10:00 a.m., Youth worship at 10:00 a.m., attending a seated worship, or enjoying an enhanced live stream experience on pumc.org. Our ultimate goal is to create a welcoming and safe environment where people can meet Jesus, grow in their relationship with Him, and feel comfortable discussing their faith and asking questions.

We appreciate your support in keeping worship alive and thriving at PUMC!

Total 2024 Basic Ministry Budget: $1,051,584

Serving the Children of Plainfield

The “Big Thing” that Plainfield United Methodist Church (PUMC) focuses on is serving the children of Plainfield. To identify the items that could help the children, we contacted the school counselors and nurses at Plainfield’s elementary and middle schools. They informed us that the following items would be beneficial:

  • Backpacks
  • Safety scissors for K-2 students and regular scissors for 3-5th grade students
  • Art boxes
  • Trial size deodorant and trial size body wash (male and female)
  • Boys short and long sleeve t-shirts (all sizes)
  • Girl’s socks (K-2)

If you have any of these items to donate, please drop them in the bin labeled “Students of Plainfield,” located in the Donation Depot near door 1. If you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Sandy Bennett at sdailben@gmail.com.

Game “Night”

Bring your favorite games and your favorite people and join PUMC for an all-church game “night” on Sunday, March 3, from 2-4pm in the Worship Annex. You can even squeeze in a post-church nap; youth will still be able to make confirmation class, and we’ll have a great time of fellowship together! If you like, bring a snack to share. Also, this is an excellent opportunity to invite friends and folks interested in connecting with a faith community. We’ll see you Sunday, March 3, from 2-4pm for a PUMC Game Night! Hospitality Training: March 3, 11:30 a.m. in the Worship Annex

Hospitality is something we are known for here at PUMC – the warmth of our welcome and the sense of belonging newcomers receive is important to us as followers of Jesus who want others to feel the love of Jesus in our midst. If you currently serve as an usher or greeter on our Hospitality Team or would like to learn more about serving on this team. In that case, you’re invited and encouraged to attend Hospitality Training on Sunday, March 3, at 11:30 a.m. following worship in the Worship Annex. Members of the Hospitality Team will lead you through the essential values, principles, and practices of our work as we continue to evolve and grow our efforts. Contact Pastor Abby (alietz@pumc.org), Tamara Miller (tamara.miller@pnc.com), Lindsay Young (younglindsay07@gmail.com), or Rebecca Blackwelder (rblackwelder@pumc.org) for more information.

Growing Young at the Fowling Warehouse: February 2, 2024

If you are in your 20s or 30s or have friends or family in their 20s or 30s – READ ON!
PUMC is excited to host our first 2024 gathering for young adults as we seek to connect with new friends and deepen our relationships with the younger folks already here. There is more room at our table, so to speak!

Young adults – mark your calendars for Friday, February 2, from 7-9:00 p.m. at the Fowling Warehouse, 1125 East Brookside Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46202, for a night of FREE fun and food! Fowling combines bowling and football – launch, throw, or toss a football however you can at bowling pins and see how many you can knock down! From what we hear, it’s harder than it looks or sounds, but it’s so much fun!

This event is free to you! We will also have pizza on hand to eat while you play; those attending can purchase drinks on-site. Yes, this event is free, but you must register at pumc.org/registrations. We encourage you to invite friends – anyone in their 20s and 30s is welcome! – to what we hope will be a great evening of fellowship and fun! Questions or need help registering? Contact Pastor Abby Lietz, alietz@pumc.org.
