Family Promise Meals: January 22-28, 2023

The New Year is here! Join us in serving our neighbors, the families staying with Family Promise, while they work to get on their feet. Plainfield United Methodist Church (PUMC) will provide evening meals for Family Promise on January 22-28, 2023.

The families are now in the new shelter – Almost Home – at 7233 E. County Road 300 S., Plainfield. They aim for a 6:00 p.m. supper time. Meals can be dropped off at or before 6:00 p.m. They have a kitchen fully stocked with plates, cookware, utensils, etc. You are welcome and encouraged to stay and have supper with the families. A Family Promise overnight staff person will be there by 6:00 p.m. (usually earlier).

We will receive the family information the week before we host to know how many meals are needed. It can be up to six families of varying sizes. (Currently, there are 6 families, 7 adults, and 14 children.) Meals are served family style.
Contact Mary Raver at mraver@pumc.org with questions or to sign up for a meal!

Christmas Eve Offering for Family and Child Ministries

On Christmas Eve, December 24, PUMC will receive a special offering at all worship experiences (4, 7, 9, and 11 p.m.) to support local families and children in need. The entirety of that evening’s offerings will go to ministries and programs that support and assist children, youth, and families in the local area. These gifts carry the spirit of Christmas all year long! Thank you for your generosity.

Crop Walk Thank You

Thank you to all who helped and participated in the 2022 CROP Walk.

23 walkers from 5 churches walked the local trails behind the rec center, and 7 churches donated financially. A total of $ 3,344.00 was raised to help feed the needy! And a big thank you to Mick and Linda Linn for donating Dilly bars to the walkers once again. We appreciate your participation and encouragement!

Thank you!

Thank you to the following individuals that have done such a fantastic job of caring for the Plainfield United Methodist Church Memorial Garden for the past year.

The garden always looks so calm and beautiful.

Thank you to the following for all your hard work and care;

  • Elaine Jacone
  • Jackie Clayton
  • Jerry Gillooly
  • Tony Meyer
  • Larry Rudy
  • Bill Edie

Special thanks to Gene and Janet Young for all their support and efforts over the past years. They have retired but still provide excellent advice.

Everyone mentioned has worked tirelessly to maintain a peaceful and relaxing area for our loved ones to enjoy. And to ensure the members of Plainfield United Methodist Church have a memorial garden we can all enjoy and be very proud of.
