Our Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Aleze Fulbright, has set a date for a Special Called Charge Conference. On Wednesday, December 14, at 7:00 p.m., Church Council members will vote to establish the PUMC clergy compensation for 2023 and revise the PUMC Gift Acceptance Policy.
The 2023 giving envelopes will be available for pick up in the main lobby from Sunday, December 4, through Sunday, December 18. If you do not have envelopes and would like them, please contact Rebecca Blackwelder, PUMC Financial Administrator, at 317-839-2319 x.227 or rblackwelder@pumc.org.
PUMC will be collecting hats, gloves or mittens, and scarves through December to keep children warm during the winter months. The Mitten tree, located in the lobby near the PUMC office, is ready to receive your gifts of warmth! Please “decorate” them with mittens, gloves, scarves, hats, etc. Your gifts will be given to Fletcher Place Community Center in Indianapolis, IPS School #34, and other local ministries to help keep their students warm.
Mission Committee is once again planning an Alternate Christmas Gift program.
You can give a monetary gift to any of the missions listed below during the Sundays of December. You will receive a lovely card and description of the mission you choose to give to your friend or relative recipient. The responses from the receivers have been very positive. And you know you are helping with the missions also by your gift.
Projects chosen for this year are :
The Madina School and Hospital,
Family Assistance,
PUMC Saturday Lunch Outreach (Last Saturday and Second Saturday lunches),
Family Promise,
and Sheltering Wings.
There will be a small flyer available Sundays in December with a description of each project. Thank you for your interest and support of these ways to minister to many people.
Please help support our 2023 service mission in Costa Rica & Summer Camp Scholarships in Indiana by purchasing freshly-made pizzas from the PUMC Youth!
Why are we selling Greatway pizzas?
Because we couldn’t get Christmas trees to sell this year. The youth need to raise funds for Camp Adventure scholarships and the 2023 mission trip to Costa Rica.
Why is December a great time to stock up on pizzas?
Hungry students will be home on school break, family is visiting, and you are hosting holiday parties and family gatherings. Pizza is great with Christmas movies or if you want an easily prepared meal waiting for you after a busy day.
We have many options available, including large 12” Italian sub sandwiches!
How to place an order.
Contact any of the Youth going on the Costa Rica Mission trip. Not sure who that is; contact Pastor Bob at bpreusch@pumc.org or through the church office, and he will take your order on behalf of a student, or he will have one of the Youth contact you!
When/Where to pick up your order.
Your fresh pizza will be ready for curbside pickup at Plainfield United Methodist Church (600 Simmons Street, Plainfield) from 1 to 3 pm on Saturday, December 17th.
Mailing a check for the full amount to Plainfield UMC, 600 Simmons St., Plainfield, IN 46168. Please write “Poinsettia” on the memo line of your check.

If you have any questions or need assistance with your order, please contact Brent Miller at 317.839.2319 or bmiller@pumc.org.
On Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25, we will host an informal “unplugged” worship time in the sanctuary at 10:00 a.m. only. Pastor Charlie and Donna will lead in the a capella singing of a few carols, reading scripture, prayer, and a Christmas devotion. We will not live stream this, the only event at Plainfield United Methodist Church (PUMC) on Christmas Day. Other services and activities will be canceled. It will be a pleasure to celebrate Christmas Day with friends in a time of worship at 10:00 a.m. at PUMC.
Plainfield United Methodist Church’s Second Annual Carol-A-Thon will be on December 4, 2022, at 6:30 p.m.
Voting for the carols ended on November 20. However, you can still donate to support the Bishop Christmas Offering for Children by check (“Carol-A-Thon” in the memo line) or online using SecureGive (choose Carol-A-Thon). Thank you!
If you have any questions, contact Zoe Wiltrout at zewiltrout@att.net.

Plainfield UMC is scheduled to provide evening meals for Family Promise the week of December 5-10. The families are now in the new shelter – Almost Home – at 7233 E. County Road 300 S., Plainfield, IN. Since all the families are staying there now, meals no longer need to be packaged by family. They aim for a 6:00 p.m. supper time. Meals can be dropped off at or before 6:00 p.m. They have a kitchen fully stocked with plates, cookware, utensils, etc.
You are welcome and encouraged to stay and have supper with the families. There will also be a Family Promise overnight staff person there by 6:00 p.m.
We will receive the family information the week before we host to know how many meals are needed. It can be up to six families of varying sizes.
During the holidays, we give thanks. Thank you for providing meals for those working to find a home! To sign up to provide a meal, please get in touch with Mary Raver at mraver@pumc.org.
