Love in Action: 100 Cans and a Dance Floor

Our Valentine’s Dance was filled with joy, laughter, and plenty of time on the dance floor. We sang about Jesus, lined up for the Electric Slide, and kept the energy high thanks to our fantastic DJ.

The charcuterie board was a hit and kept everyone fueled for more fun. Admission was a donation of canned fruit, and we collected more than 100 cans to share with neighbors in need — a beautiful way to show love in action.

Kids ran through balloons, laughed with friends, and danced the night away. It was a sweet evening of faith, fellowship, and fun.

Thank you to everyone who made it possible

The Chosen – Season 4 Small Group Study

Join us for a small group study based on The Chosen, the multi-season series about the life of Jesus. This spring, we’ll explore Season 4, focusing on what it means to follow Jesus as the stakes rise and faith is tested.

Each session includes viewing an episode, connecting the story to Scripture, and engaging in thoughtful discussion in a welcoming small-group setting.

The study begins April 7.

Holy Week Was Not Passive

This Lent, the church is invited into a shared discipleship journey centered on Fight Like Jesus: How Jesus Waged Peace Throughout Holy Week by Jason Porterfield. Together, we will walk through Jesus’ final week and reflect on Holy Week not simply as suffering endured, but as a deliberate, faithful way of waging peace in the face of fear, conflict, and injustice.

In a divided and anxious world, this study calls us back to the way of Jesus—marked by grace, courage, compassion, and reconciliation. Lent reminds us that transformation begins within, shaping how we live, love, and respond each day.

When The Label Falls Off

When life hits hard, it can feel like the ground won’t stop moving—grades, drama, pressure, and loss all piling up at once. This week, we’re talking about what it really means to feel shaken and where we run when things get heavy. Psalm 125 reminds us that trusting God doesn’t make the storm disappear, but it gives us solid ground to stand on when everything else wobbles.
Read Ahead: 1 Samuel 17:38–40

Life Together: Lenten Breakfast Series

Join us for the Life Together Lenten Breakfast Series as we journey through the season of Lent in community. Each gathering offers time to share a meal, worship together, and reflect on the sacrifice and love of Jesus Christ as we prepare our hearts for the joy of Resurrection Sunday.

The series begins on February 21 at Plainfield UMC. From there, we will continue gathering on February 28 at Avon UMC, March 7 at Mt. Olive UMC, March 14 at West Newton UMC, March 21 at Bridgeport UMC, and March 28 at Pittsboro UMC.

Each morning gathering is an invitation to slow down, seek God’s presence, deepen our prayer lives, and connect more fully with others in our faith community. While the locations change, the purpose remains the same: to walk the Lenten journey together around the table.

All are welcome, and we hope you will join us for this season of nourishment for both body and spirit.
For questions or additional details, please contact Pastor Ken Loudenback at kloudenback@pumc.org

Lent Is for Courage, Not Fear

This Lent, we invite the whole church into a shared discipleship journey through Fight Like Jesus: How Jesus Waged Peace Throughout Holy Week by Jason Porterfield. The book guides us through Jesus’ final week, inviting us to see Holy Week not only as suffering endured, but as a purposeful way of waging peace in the face of injustice, conflict, and fear.

That vision feels especially timely in a cultural moment marked by division and anxiety. As followers of Jesus, we are called to a different way—one shaped by grace, courage, compassion, and reconciliation. Lent reminds us that real transformation begins in the heart, and this study helps form us to “fight” like Jesus in our relationships, our community, and our daily lives.

Throughout the season, several groups will engage the book together, including the Tuesday Morning Prayer Group, Friday Morning Bible Study, Cornerstone (Thursdays, 6:30–8:00 p.m.), and Sunday School classes. Everyone in the congregation is encouraged to read along, whether or not you participate in a group.

Faithful Welcome in a Time of Fear

Immigrants to the U.S. are often fleeing war, economic scarcity, persecution, the effects of globalization – the list goes on.

Some come as refugees with a status of asylum-seeking approved before they arrive. Others arrive as migrants, following seasonal job opportunities. Those arriving with no legal documentation are not often doing so to get away with something, but because they have no better alternative to avoid violence, war, oppression, death and the lack of options at home for their children’s health and safety. They want a better life, the life Jesus says he came to provide! There is no doubt need for good immigration reform in the U.S. but we are also called to love our neighbors and welcome the strangers among us.

The INUMC is working to help churches respond to the current immigration crisis our country faces and to express our compassion for those suffering while advocating for immigrant rights as they face family separation, life disruption and the possibility of detention and deportation. Please avail yourselves of the opportunities as you are moved and called.
