Angel Tree

The Angel Tree mission provides gifts, cookies, a bible, and a personal message from their parent for the children of incarcerated people who cannot provide gifts themselves. You can help by choosing a child from one of the Angel Trees in the Main Lobby on 11/20, 11/27, and 12/4 (or until they are gone)! Once you pick an angel, you will purchase, wrap and return your gift no later than noon on Sunday, December 11th.

If shopping is not your thing, you can get involved in many ways! Sign-up sheets for the following opportunities are in the Main Lobby as well:

  • Volunteer to bake and/or sort cookies
  • Volunteer to help with sorting gifts to prepare for delivery
  • Volunteer to deliver gifts
  • Important Angel Tree Dates:
  • Angels will be available on November 20, 27, and December 4th
  • Gifts should be returned by noon on Sunday, December 11th
  • Gift sorting begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 11th
  • Cookies are due by 5:00 p.m. on December 16th, and cookie sorting begins at 5:30 p.m.
  • Gift Delivery starts on Sunday, December 18th, at 12:30 p.m.

Please get in touch with Terry Jones, who is leading the 2022 Angel Tree Mission, at 317-412-3123 if you have questions.

Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift. –2 Corinthians 9:15

Family Promise Meals: December 5-10

Plainfield UMC is scheduled to provide evening meals for Family Promise the week of December 5-10.
The families are now in the new shelter – Almost Home – at 7233 E. County Road 300 S., Plainfield, IN. Since all the families are staying there now, meals no longer need to be packaged by family. They aim for a 6:00 p.m. supper time. Meals can be dropped off at or before 6:00 p.m. They have a kitchen fully stocked with plates, cookware, utensils, etc.

You are welcome and encouraged to stay and have supper with the families. There will also be a Family Promise overnight staff person there by 6:00 p.m.

We will receive the family information the week before we host to know how many meals are needed. It can be up to six families of varying sizes.

During the holidays, we give thanks. Thank you for providing meals for those working to find a home!
To sign up to provide a meal, please get in touch with Mary Raver at mraver@pumc.org.

Fall Food Drive

Even though Plainfield UMC has been collecting and delivering food each week in recent months, the Mission Committee planned a special food drive for November 6, 2022, to help emphasize the needs of the local area food pantries during this time of thanksgiving.

On November 6, grocery bags with needed items were available after the 8:45 and 10:00 a.m. worship services. Deliveries of the collected donations will happen between November 13 and 20.

Monetary donations will be gratefully accepted if you cannot make it to the grocery store.

Your help to provide food for hungry people is greatly appreciated.
